Next one, do you think any government body would actually come forward and say that they stopped x because of a petition when they’re aware that saying that might actually make more people sign things in the future? Especially when they’re trying to put in legislation that will make it harder to spread petitions around the internet? I’m not saying that this is what is actually happening, just thinking on this.

I do think so, yes. Governments have a LOT invested in keeping up the facade that what the people think influences government decisions in the least.
